The Flaw

We struggle

never-ending

Emotions and intelligence

tearing our instincts in opposite directions

cultures and societies

shaping our values

our morals

It defines us

through music, politics, religion

It separates us from the animals

from pure instinct

to pure ambition

The fatal flaw

in our genes

in our quest to be righteous

to be true to our god

or our country

that which consistently

keeps us humble

is selfishness
